time out flag

Project:SOCKIT - speaking and listening to TCP/IP network sockets using IGOR Pro
Version:IGOR.5.00.x-1.x-dev
Component:Code
Category:feature request
Priority:normal
Assigned:andyfaff
Status:closed
Description

As I have to change my network settings to connect to the server via the sockit xop (manually enter an internal IP address), it often happens that I forget to do so. This blocks Igor for more than a minute while the sockit xop is attempting to connect to the server before "SOCKIT err: failed to connect" is printed to the history.

It would be great to have a time out flag (e.g. /TIMEOUT=1) to set the maximum time duration the sockit xop tries to connect to the server.

Seems to work. Thanks a lot for the quick service. Are you planning to join the Wavemetrics' team?

No, I like my work too much. I've been working a lot on that XOP because I need it to run an instrument over the web and it's in my interest to get it working as efficiently as possible.
