NIDAQ tool

I'm using Igor to control Agilent DC power supply and I can write data to device but I can't read the data from it .Thus , do I need to install NIDAQ tool.
This question was also sent to WaveMetrics tech support. My answer was:
--------------------------
No, NIDAQ Tools MX won't help with that problem. Do you know how the power supply is controlled? It is likely through a serial port or USB port, using either our VDT XOP or the VISA XOP. To read data will require learning the commands to send to the power supply to tell it to send data, and then reading the data with the appropriate VDT or VISA function calls.

It's quite possible that another customer has already solved this problem- you may wish to check out IgorExchange.com to ask about it.
--------------------------

It now seems that SATTAM is using GPIB to communicate with the power supply. In that case, you must be using the NIGPIB XOP to control the power supply. My answer is still the same: To read data will require learning the commands to send to the power supply to tell it to send data, and then reading the data with the appropriate VDT or VISA function calls.

Hopefully someone reading this thread can give you some help.

What's the model number of the power supply?

NIDAQ would be an option in case you measure the outputs via an NI6008 (or similar). But seriously, that should be a last resort solution.

I'm using Agilent N6705B DC Power Analyzer and I can write data but I can't read
Thanks
How do you communicate with the device (GPIB/USB/LAN etc.) ?
Does writing work from Igor?
Can you read values using the original software?
I use NI GPIB card and can write and read data using NI MAX but with Igor can only write data only without reading
Does that mean that you don't know how to write the NIGPIB XOP commands to read data, or that you have tried sending commands to the power supply and got no response, or that there was a problem with the NIGPIB reading commands? At this point, we need more details of what you tried and what the result was.
